Why You’ll Love this DIY Lavender Linen and Room Spray
Lavender has an amazing fragrance that smells clean and fresh. Lavender is also well known for its calming, relaxing properties and its ability to sooth anxiety, boost moods and improve sleep.
This homemade lavender linen spray is made with natural products and free from added chemicals. You can control the scent strength and customize the ingredients to fit your preferences. It’s also super affordable and easy to make.
A bottle of this lavender room or linen spray would make a wonderful gift. You’ll want to make sure you have this recipe saved on the ol’ Pinterest board!
Lavender Linen Spray Ingredients and Equipment
To make this DIY lavender linen and room spray, you’ll need the following equipment:
- Measuring cups and spoons
- A spray bottle
You’ll also need these ingredients (for a 16 oz spray bottle):
- 2 cups water (distilled water is great if you have it, but tap will do just fine too)
- 2 tablespoons vodka, witch hazel or rubbing alcohol (if using witch hazel, look for one without added fragrances and ingredients)
- 30-40 drops pure lavender essential oil (Mountain Rose Herbs, Doterra and Now all have great lavender essential oils that I’ve tried.)

Instructions
Measure the water into your spray bottle. Add the vodka, witch hazel or rubbing alcohol. Drop in your lavender essential oil and close the bottle tightly. (You can even add a sprig of lavender to the bottle if you want to be fancy.)
Blend the ingredients by giving the mixture a good shake to combine everything.
Label as desired and start spritzing!

How to Use Your Lavender Linen and Room Spray
Whenever you want to enjoy the calming scent of lavender, simply give your spray bottle a shake to make sure the mixture is nice and blended. That’s all, now you can spray away!
Try using your lavender linen spray on pillowcases, bath towels, blankets, or any other fabrics. You can spritz a bit in the dryer before drying your clothes or on clean laundry for a heavenly fragrance boost.
One of my favorite ways to use this spray is so spritz some on my pillow for added sleep benefits. I also love using it as an every day room spray. A few sprays into the air does wonders to freshen up a room!

Customize Your Spray!
Homemade lavender linen spray is very easy to customize. You can scale the recipe up or down to fit your container. When I do this, I like to remember this ratio:
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon vodka, witch hazel or rubbing alcohol
- 10-20 drops lavender essential oil
So basically, 1 to 1 to 10. Cup, tablespoon, drops.
Along with easily scaling your recipe up or down, you can add more lavender essential oil to your mixture for a stronger scent. You can also add in other essential oils for a custom fragrance blend. How about lavender/vanilla or lavender/lemon/peppermint? There are so many delicious possibilities!

Can I Make Lavender Essential Oil Spray without Alcohol?
The vodka/witch hazel/rubbing alcohol used in this recipe acts as an emulsifier and helps to disperse the lavender essential oil more evenly in the water and aids in quick evaporation. Alcohol also has some disinfectant properties. However, I can tell you from personal experience that it’s not essential.
If you don’t have an emulsifier (the vodka, witch hazel or rubbing alcohol) you can still make a great lavender room spray or lavender linen spray by simply using water and essential oil. The trick is to shake it vigorously right before using to help mix everything up.
