Do you need some non Christmas winter decor ideas? I’ll show you how I decorate after Christmas for cozy winter vibes all season long.

Do you ever find yourself a little bit stumped about what to do with your home decor after Christmas? It’s easy to feel a bit lost.
The tree is down, the ornaments, garlands and twinkle lights have all been packed away, and things can feel a bit bare and cold.
I’ve definitely been there. I love the breath of fresh air that comes from packing away holiday decor, but it’s easy to miss the cozy atmosphere.
Instead of leaving things bare, I like to replace my Christmas decor with items that remind me of the beauty of winter and it’s gorgeous blue and white color palette. I also do my best to bring in home decor elements that keep the cozy vibes going strong. (Winter months are long – we gotta stay warm!)

So, please feel free to get comfortable and snuggle into a nice blanket while I share with you my non Christmas winter decor ideas. I hope you’ll find an idea that inspires you!

Fresh Living Room Linens
Changing out my living room furniture linens is one of my favorite ways to refresh the look of my home. I’m talking about things like throw pillows and slip covers.

I pulled out some decorative throw pillows and covers in creamy whites, green and cool blue that remind me of winter.
It’s nice to have linens with texture, especially in a mostly neutral color scheme.
Cozy Winter Blankets
I would curl up in cozy winter blankets all season long if I could! I like to pull out warm and fuzzy throw blankets this time of year. It’s a great way to add warmth to a space, especially when decorating with cool colors.

Apparently, I’m not the only one who loves a fuzzy blanket! Our little doggie loves to cuddle up for a winter nap.
Baskets in Warm Tones
Another great way to add warmth to a cool-toned winter palette is with baskets. Their natural golden hues really help balance out the whites and blues of winter.

Non Christmas Winter Living Room Decorations
Once we transition from December to January, I swap out my holiday decor for some simple winter home decor.

The fireplace mantel got a refresh with neutral and white vases. I also found some vintage art to display on our frame TV. I love having beautiful art as a focal point in my home.
Because I get asked all the time – yes, we love the frame TV! See my Samsung frame TV review. Putting a custom frame on the frame TV makes it look like true art. And it’s easy to find and resize free art to display on the frame TV too!

The piano top also got a refresh with some simple branches in a vase.
I kept out a basket of pine cones from Christmas.
Natural elements, like pine cones, red berries, branches or homemade wreaths always look fantastic in home decor. Add a few onto a tray or basket and you’re good to go. As a bonus, you can often forage these things from pine trees or shrubbery for free!
Floral Arrangements and Winter Greenery
Floral arrangements make for great non-Christmas winter decorations. They’re especially nice to see in the winter, when most of the natural world is asleep.

Baby’s breath is a floral favorite of mine. The tiny white flower clusters remind me of snowflakes. They also dry beautifully, so you can enjoy them for a long time. I’m always finding uses for baby’s breath.
I even used baby’s breath to decorate my Christmas tree and mantel a couple years back. It was gorgeous!
Seeded eucalyptus is another favorite of mine and it looks great any time of year.

Pictures and Art
Of course, we have to have some special pictures and art.

The console table that previously held our Nativity scene has been redecorated with precious family photos and more vintage art.
Yes – I’m a little vintage art obsessed. You should join me! There is a whole world of amazing vintage art out there!

Adding Softness to Non Christmas Winter Decor
Adding a bit of softness to home decor makes everything more inviting, especially in the winter. One of the ways I do this was by adding extra linens around my house for a cozy touch.
For example, I added a small throw to the to of the dresser in our mudroom, along with some baby’s breath and candles.

In the living room, I used a beautiful blue table runner, made by my wonderful mother in law, to dress up the coffee table.
Even the coat hooks look softer and more inviting with some textured linens on them. A wool hat, a scarf or a fuzzy pair of gloves can absolutely serve as accent pieces in your cozy winter decorations.

Winter-Inspired Dishes
Over in the kitchen/dining room there have been a few changes as well.
The baker’s rack, which was one of Mr. Tidbits DIY’S and building plans, is now holding white and blue dishes, instead of the Christmas red that was previously here.
The vintage art print from my TIDBITS & Company shop is also perfect for this time of year.

I also pulled out my blue bowl and mug collection to match the colors of the winter season.
Dishware is practical and it makes great decor when you coordinate it with a color scheme. I love getting double use from items I would normally have out anyway!

Cozy Non Christmas Winter Kitchen Decor
Above the kitchen range, I cleared out the garland in favor of some clean and simple non Christmas decorations.
Some antique candlesticks holders and vases do the trick.

Candlesticks are a great option for decorating in the winter. The classic look that goes with everything and they bring all the cozy winter vibes.
Winter Kitchen Linens
I also like to refresh my kitchen linen colors when the season changes. Currently, I’m using blues and winter whites.

The blue linen tea towel is one from my own shop, TIDBITS & Company. This color is sold out but we have more available.
The white towel was a sweet gift sent to me by a reader. Isn’t it darling?!
Fresh Winter Bedroom Linens
The master bedroom also got a refresh for the wintry new year.

In keeping with my winter-inspired color scheme, I changed the linens for simple and clean neutral shades.
I also love the light blue throw blanket, which adds a touch of cool color the bed.
Books, Books, Books
And of course, what is winter without a big stack of wonderful books to read? I keep a collection handy next to the bed as well as in the living room.

Personally, I want to hibernate and read books all winter long. That would be heaven! In fact, I may need to go read a book right now 🙂
