Add a little sunshine to your space! Here are my tips and inspiration pics for cottage-style yellow bedroom ideas.

Hello and welcome!
I’m so glad you could join me for another room reveal here at the Lavender Blue Cottage. Today I’ll be showing you our little sunshine bedroom. This cheerful space was designed for our youngest daughter. It’s the first bedroom that she’s had all to herself, so we wanted to design it around her sweet personality.
Our girl is a ray of sunshine, so it makes total sense that yellow is her favorite color. And since yellow is her favorite color…..you can see where this was headed.

I was totally on board the yellow train, but yellow can be tricky. In fact, we ended up painting this room twice (ugh!) because our first paint color selection was too bright. Truth be told, even after repainting, I still wish we’d gone just a touch lighter, but it’s darling and my daughter loves it. Mission accomplished!
If you’ve been thinking about adding yellow hues to your home, or if you love a cottage interior, join me for a quick tour. I’ll give you a run down of all my favorite yellow bedroom ideas.

Cottage Beds
Let’s start with the beds in this room because I’m sure someone is wondering why there are two beds for one girl?
This darling set of twin beds was purchased years ago when we were living in our pole barn home. Back then, my daughter and her little brother shared a room.

This set of spindle beds stole my heart as soon as a I saw them. They added the sweetest touch of old-fashioned charm to that picnic-inspired bedroom.
We didn’t need to put up both beds in this new room, but a spare bed often comes in handy (especially when your daughter’s favorite friend/cousin lives near by). Plus, they look super cute together. After some debate, both beds went up. No regrets!
Cozy Yellow Bedroom Linens
Bringing in bedding with different yellow tones allowed us to add pops of color without overwhelming this small space.

We chose a dainty floral duvet covers, sheets with just a hint of color and pillows covers in some unexpected, but really lovely shades of yellow.
There is something about the contrast between the light bed linens and the dark headboards that I just love. It’s definitely a match made in heaven!

Gotta love the cottage charm of this sweet floral throw pillow.

Yellow Wall Treatment and Trim
Rather than going all yellow from floor to ceiling, you can add warmth and color to the walls of your bedroom with a wall treatment. That’s what we used here. It’s a bead board with decorative trim painted in a sweet shade of yellow called Lemon Cream by Valspar.

The color and style coordinate so well with her round table and yellow table cloth. Super cute cottage vibes!
Rug and Curtains
A soft rug and some soft yellow curtains help at texture and warmth to this bedroom, along with a little splash of color. I like to keep it light and simple.

Tip: Hang double curtain panels on each side of the window for a full and luxurious effect. I do it every time!
And yes, that is an old-fashioned record player of her rolling cart table. Isn’t that fun?! We find records for it at antique stores.

Yellow Bedroom Furniture Ideas
I’m loving the look of dark antique furniture in this light and bright bedroom.
This secretaries desk provides a perfect little nook where my daughter can get creative.

Moving across the room a bit is a vintage bookcase that holds some of my daughter’s favorite book collections. The white floating shelves hold classic books with the most gorgeous covers.

We knew that these beautiful books needed to be displayed like the art pieces that they are.

Art and Decor
We had a good time decorating this gallery wall for my daughter with pieces that she liked.
One the left side of the wall is a gorgeous oval clock, floral canvas art, a round floral canvas and sunrays art that she chose.
Over to the right side is another round floral canvas, oval art, a sweet butterfly print and a piece of violin art. All of these pieces reflect her personality and interests, which is exactly what we wanted to achieve.

As my daughter continues to grow, this gallery wall can adapt with her. It’s a really fun way to let her express herself and I know it makes her happy to see it.
My goodness, I sure do love this little yellow bedroom and the girl who lives here!
