A Review of our Black Leather Sofa

I’m sharing all my thoughts about our new black leather sofa, including what I love about it and what you may want to consider before buying one yourself.

I’m trying something new over here. It’s a black leather sofa to go in our new house, the Lavender Blue Cottage. By the way, if you haven’t checked out our new cottage, make sure you do that so you know what I’m talking about 🙂

Now, if you know me, you know that I tend toward a more vintage/cottage/old world look. But I also love trying out different styles and blending the old with the new for a unique, curated look. That’s why I was intrigued by the Valencia Gabriele Leather Sofa.

This sofa has a stunning, mid-century modern look that I wanted to incorporate into our new-to-us 1970’s cottage home. It may be a some time yet until we get to a makeover on this space, so it is nice to have a couch that fits the surroundings so well.

I’m excited to share my thoughts with you, including a few things for you to consider before buying your next couches.

What I Love About the Valencia Gabriele Leather Sofa

I think we can all agree that choosing a couch or sofa can be tough! It’s such a large room feature that the pressure to get it right can be pretty high. That’s why I’ll do my best to give you my first-hand experience about our new Valencia living room sofa. Here are some of the features I love about it.

Style

The style of this Valencia leather sofa is impressive. It’s got a very sleek, modern look, but it’s also really versatile. Furniture is a lot like a basic clothing outfit – you can dress it up or down to fit your personal style.

Because I am a lover of more traditional looks, I used the throw blankets and pillows I already had to add a vintage touch. I think it turned out really well! And did you notice those couch legs? They have a super unique style and that gorgeous brushed brass finish, which I love.

Comfort

This Valencia leather sofa is very comfortable. Its cushions are filled with both foam and real down feathers for a dreamy comfort combo. When is the last time you saw real down feathers used anywhere?

My kids, especially, are always on the sofa and can’t seem to get enough of it. I love that even after the kids play on it, the cushions don’t flatten out or require any fluffing or fussing on my part.

Durability

Leather furniture is known for being durable and so far this couch does not disappoint. The Valencia Gabriele sofa is made with 100% semi-aniline leather, which is specially treated to be nearly scratch proof.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that this sofa has held up to our dog jumping and playing on it. In fact, it’s done much better than our old sofas in resisting pet wear and tear. I’d say this is a solid choice for pet owners who need furniture that can stand the test of time.

Easy to Clean

I love the texture of leather furniture, especially in a household with kids and pets. A quick wipe down is all you need to clean up any dust or spills. Who doesn’t love that?

Things to Consider Before Purchasing Sofas

If you’re considering the Valencia Gabriele leather sofas or similar furniture, here are a few things to keep in mind before purchasing.

Need to Dust

Black leather couches need to be dusted regularly. The dark color and smooth texture of leather will definitely show dust, but luckily it’s a super quick and easy job to do.

Deep Seat

One of the stand out features of this Valencia sofa is the deep seat. Do you love a deep seat? I know that some people do and some people don’t.

Personally, I love that I can have throw pillows on a deep-seated couch and not have to remove them to sit like you do with a more shallow seat. I also love that I can sit with my legs curled up on the couch for some cozy lounging and still have plenty of room.

Low Back

The modern style of this sofa has a low back. That’s great if you like to place your furniture in the middle of a room or in a location where you want to keep lines of sight open. It’s also great for draping your arm along the back like I am doing in the picture below.

I know that some people prefer a higher back on their furniture. It all comes down to personal preference and how you plan to use your furniture. If you have the chance, I’d recommend that you test out a few high back and low back couches in person to see what style you prefer.

Would I Recommend the Valencia Gabriele Black Leather Sofa?

At the end of the day, would I recommend the Valencia Gabriele black leather sofa? For sure!

If you’re in the market for modern black leather sofas, this is a great option that is stylish, comfy, super durable and easy to clean. It’s super kid and pet friendly, which I know is important for many households. I look forward to using our new sofa for many years to come!
