We are smack-dab in the middle of a glorious fall in my neck of the woods. The weather is perfect, the leaves are changing colors, and it’s the start of the cozy season. I am in my element and loving every minute of it. Who’s with me on this one?

This time of year, I find myself craving bits of fall in my home decor, in my recipes, and of course in my scents. Fall is a whole-home experience! Let’s enjoy it in every way!

Perfect DIY Foaming Hand Soap

Today I’m introducing you to my newest fall obsession – a DIY fall foaming hand soap recipe that can be made in mere seconds. It cleans well, feels great and smells absolutely heavenly. Best of all, it uses a blend of essential oils that you can customize for a perfect scent combination.

As a mom, I think foam soap is great because it “shows where it goes”, which is great for kids and really anyone who wants to ensure they are getting a thorough hand washing. It’s also just really fun to use. Everyone loves the thick, soapy bubbles!

Tip: Don’t buy expensive foaming hand soap refills. They are a huge rip-off. Once you’ve got a foaming hand soap bottle, you can make your own refills in seconds and save tons of money. Plus, you control the ingredients so you can ensure they are natural and healthy.

Ingredients and Supplies for Foaming Hand Soap

A foaming hand soap dispenser is the key to success with this recipe. Without it, you’ll just have regular liquid hand soap, so make sure you use a good foaming soap bottle! You’ll also need:

• unscented liquid Castile soap (make sure it is pure and all-natural, with enough to fill about half of your soap dispenser)
• water (enough to fill the other half of your soap dispenser)
• 20-30 drops of essential oils (for this recipe I used about 10 drops of cinnamon essential oil, 10 drops of orange essential oil, and 10 drops of clove essential oil.)

How to Make Fall Foaming Hand Soap Recipe

To make your foaming hand soap:

• Fill your foaming hand soap bottle up halfway with pure, unscented Castile soap.
• Fill the remainder of the bottle with water, leaving some head space to allow for blending.
• Add 20-30 drops of essential oils blends of your choice into the bottle.
• Put the pump back in the bottle, close it up and shake well to combine everything.

It really is that easy!

Fall Essential Oil Blend Ideas

Here is a handy little print out I made of delicious fall essential oil blends. You’ll want to scale up the number of essential oil drops for your soap recipe (think 20-30 drops per regular 8 oz bottle) but you can use these blends as a guide for oil varieties and proportions. (These blends are also great for the diffuser!)

And of course, feel free to experiment and get creative. This is the fun part! You don’t need to limit yourself to fall scents either. I’m dying to make a foaming winter hand soap blend with some peppermint essential oil. Yum!
